MHK 101

Introductory Kanyen鈥檏茅ha I

This course concentrates on developing students鈥� speaking proficiency of Kanyen鈥檏茅ha (Mohawk) at the novice level. Kanyen鈥檏茅ha being a verb-based and polysynthetic language, this course will focus on conversation and verb construction in order to provide students with a strong foundation to progress with learning Kanyen鈥檏茅ha. Students will develop an understanding of the basic grammatical structures and will also explore Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) culture, traditions, and perspective as they relate to language.
