Alyssa Fearon is a scholar, curator, and art gallery director. Her research focuses on historical and contemporary Black-Canadian cultural production with a focus on photography and other lens-based media. Her research has received funding from Canada Council for the Arts, Canadian Heritage, and SSHRC. Her curatorial work has toured extensively, notably the research-driven exhibition BLACK PRAIRIES (2025). She is a curator for the forthcoming exhibition Sites of Agency (2026) at the National Gallery of Canada. 

Most recently, Fearon served as Director/Curator, Dunlop Art Gallery and Film Theatre at Regina Public Library in Saskatchewan. Leading a 14-person staff and $1.25 million operating budget, she significantly grew audiences and led a transformation of the digital marketing strategy. In 2018, Fearon was selected as inaugural curator of City of Toronto’s Nuit Blanche, Scarborough zone. Fearon has worked in galleries and museums for nearly 15 years, assuming curatorial and leadership positions in Canada and the United States.
