Prevent injury and illness at work in this unique field, which has been growing in demand since the COVID-19 pandemic. Join the Occupational Health and Safety degree program, Canada鈥檚 only program of its kind, and discover how to make workplaces as safe, healthy and supportive as possible. In this program, you鈥檒l learn the science behind tracking and stopping hidden workplace dangers including physical, biological and chemical hazards before they can harm employees.
You鈥檒l gain direct experience designing and launching health and safety initiatives, and will graduate as an in-demand professional ready to pursue a rewarding career. After graduation, you can apply for the examination and certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST). With additional work experience and an exam, you may choose to pursue registration as a registered occupational hygienist through the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists. You can also apply for certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) through the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals.

This is a Grades-Only program. Admission decisions for Grades-Only programs are based on academic performance.
To be considered for admission, Ontario high school students must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- Completion of 6 Grade 12 U or M courses with a minimum overall average of 70%
- Completion of the following required Grade 12 U courses (minimum grade of 60% in each):
- English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred)
- One of Chemistry (SCH4U) or Biology (SBI4U)
Note: Applicants with a bachelor's degree from an accredited university will not be considered for admission to the 4-year degree program.
An overall average of 70% is required for consideration. Due to competition, the average needed for admission can fluctuate each year (it depends on the number of applications received and the number of spaces available). The grade range at the top of this page represents the average required in previous years.
Academic admission requirements for all other applicants are available on the admission requirements page. If you haven鈥檛 been educated in Ontario, you may be considered with the equivalent of the Ontario requirements. 自淫系列 reserves the right to determine equivalency at its sole discretion.
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university including 3 (lower or upper level) liberal studies courses.
- Applicants must have as part of their degree (or other post-secondary education) credit for at least one single-term course in chemistry (equivalent to CHY 104).
- Successful candidates may apply for up to 6 single-term transfer credits based on their previous university studies.
- Completion of the Workplace Safety and Prevention Diploma from Lambton College, Seneca College or Cambrian College with a minimum B/3.0/70% overall average.
