David Grant-Rubash
David Grant-Rubash is an architect, industrial designer, and educator whose interdisciplinary practice spans architecture, interiors, furniture, and product design. He studied architecture at the University of Copenhagen DIS and holds a Master of Interior Architecture and Product Design from Kansas State University.
Before founding PHAEDRUS Studio, David worked as a Design Lead and Associate at architecture firms in New York City and Toronto, contributing to built projects ranging from commercial interiors to mid-rise housing and high-rise office towers. He founded PHAEDRUS Studio as an independent design practice exploring architecture and design across scales, working in retail, hospitality, residential architecture, and urban housing forms. The practice recently expanded into master planning and development-oriented work.
His work is recognized for its purposeful, playful, and highly considered approach to design, balancing strong architectural ideas with the practical, economic, and contextual realities of contemporary projects. PHAEDRUS Studio was named a Top 5 global finalist for Best Young Firm in the 2026 Architizer A+ Awards and received an A+ Award in the Hospitality: Restaurant category.
