Undeclared Arts is a first-year studies option that allows students time to explore program areas in the social sciences and humanities before choosing the program they wish to pursue over the next three years. There are nine program transfer options for Undeclared Arts: Criminology, English, Environment and Urban Sustainability, Geographic Analysis, History, Philosophy, Politics and Governance, Psychology and Sociology. Because these nine programs have a common one-year foundation, all of the courses completed in Undeclared Arts are credited to the student's program of choice.
Students who have already decided which of the爊ine programs they are interested in should apply to those programs directly, and should consult the relevant pages of this calendar for program details. Students who are completing, or have already completed post-secondary studies, must apply to one of the爊ine programs. Transfer credit/Advanced Standing cannot be granted for the Undeclared Arts option.
Semesters One and Two: Undeclared Arts students learn more about the program areas by selecting foundation燾ourses in Criminology, English, Environment and Urban Sustainability,燝eographic Analysis, History,燩hilosophy, Politics and Governance,燩sychology, and Sociology. Two required first-year courses - Academic Writing and Research, and Critical Thinking -develop essential skills and competencies that will enhance students' success in university and career preparation. Students also explore other social science and humanities areas, and choose electives from more than 15 subject areas, including business and the natural sciences, and any one of these can lead to a Minor.�

Transferability Guidelines
Students who have been admitted into the Bachelor of Arts � Undeclared must apply to transfer by爏econd semester to one of Criminology, English, Environment and Urban Sustainability, Geographic Analysis, History, Philosophy, Politics and Governance, Psychology or Sociology. No student can remain Undeclared past爏econd semester. 牋Transfer applications are available through the Undeclared Arts office and must be submitted by February 2nd.� All program transfers will be considered on a competitive basis and are subject to program capacity.

Criminology

Students must have successfully completed CRM 100 in order to transfer to Criminology for the Fall term of their second year of studies. It is strongly recommended that students complete both CRM 100 and CRM 102 in first year. Transfer applications are considered on a competitive basis subject to space availability. Students intending to transfer to Criminology for second year are encouraged to present a�cumulative grade point average of 2.67 (B -) in their first semester studies at Ryerson to maximize their chances for consideration, subject to competition and available second-year spaces. Possession of the minimum cumulative grade point average does not guarantee program transfer.

Students must have successfully completed one of PHL 101, PHL 201, PHL 333, or PHL 366 in order to transfer to Philosophy in the fall term of their second year of studies. It is strongly recommended that students complete two of PHL 101, PHL 201, PHL 333, or PHL 366 in first year.
